Today, a maranic event called Shimanami Surround was held from Setoda-cho, Ikuchi-jima to the three islands of Ikuchi-jima, Innoshima, and Mukaishima on the Shimanami Kaido.
This is the first time for me to learn the word “maranic”!
The word “maranic” is a coined word combining the words ‘marathon’ and “picnic,” which I learned for the first time this time,
It seems to be a sporting event where participants run or walk at their own pace while enjoying the scenery and local culture, rather than competing for position or time.
The maranic seems to be held all over Japan, but this year seems to be the first time it has been held on the Shimanami Kaido.
There are three courses of 24 km, 60 km, and 100 km, and the islands to be visited seem to change depending on the course.
The race starts at 5:00 a.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m. As someone who has never participated in a marathon before, I have a lot of respect for this event.
There were concerns about today’s weather until yesterday, but today it was cloudy in the morning and sunny in the afternoon, so I am not sure if it was good or bad for the runners,
However, as I walked around the town, I saw the happy faces of the runners and local people saying, “Go for it!”.

Various marathon-related events are held every year on the Shimanami Kaido, including “Setoda Lemon Marathon” on Ikuchijima Island and “Shimanami Kaido Ultra Walking”, the number of participants seems to be increasing every year as the wonderful scenery attracts attention.
I am not sure if I will participate in the marathon in the future because it is frankly too hard, but I would like to participate in the bicycle event at some point.
P.S. I recently started writing a blog for the first time in my life, so all I can write is a stupid blog.
What should I do? Someone teach me how to write!
